If you have a corporate business trip coming up then there are many things that need to be planned properly first. As soon as you have confirmed your itinerary for the trip then you need to think about booking flight tickets, accommodation, hotels and transport or car rentals as soon as possible. If you leave this too late you may find that prices have changed considerably for the worse. You might also like to think about the following tips:
Travel & Health Insurance - Are You Covered?
Many companies do not have adequate health and/or travel insurance cover. You must explore this with your human resources office before you depart so you are aware of what is covered, what isn't and make any arrangements if cover is not adequate. Think about general health, emergency health, lost luggage and cancelled flights. Also worth contacting the airline you are using to see what cover they are providing. This is particularly important if you are travelling on a corporate team building trip and there are many bodies to consider.
Be Prepared 1 - Learn the Language:
It's well worth your time trying to pick up the basics of the language used most commonly at your destination. Try to encourage all travellers to participate and learn some useful terms, both friendly and business related terms will be useful. You can immerse yourself in a good phrase book and keep it handy when you arrive. It shows that you care about how your hosts perceive you and that you have invested some of your time in having more comfortable relations with them.
Be Prepared 2 - Learn the Customs
An embarrassing faux pas is entirely avoidable with just a little forethought. Whilst you are swatting up on the language, take the time to learn a bit about local customs at your destination. You need to know what to wear, when and how to appropriately address people in differing business and social situations. Again, showing that you have taken the time to learn these things will help make any negotiations smoother and more successful.
